who's steering your ship?
This is an excerpt from my upcoming book, "SOUL Blueprint: Returning to Your Original Design" by Charisse Lynette Jones (Founder-Grace + Grit Unlimited®) is Copyright © 2024 by Charisse Lynette Jones.
let's talk. who's got the wheel of your life?
when it comes to dreams, goals, desires—what you want for yourself and your life, are you steering the ship?
or are you giving the wheel to someone or something else, letting them steer the ship wherever or however they want?
it's a relevant question because when pursuing your soul path, doing those things, making decisions, and living in a way that energizes you
and brings you peace
and brings you joy
and fulfillment
and creates spaciousness for unconditional love and abundance
is ultimately steered by what we give the most time, focus, and energy to.
this is alignment...living from your true self. aligning your actions with your core soul values and passions. what matters to you and for your highest good.
a lifetime can present many distractions and even things that are good or even great.
simultaneously, if you are still living with dreams, goals and desires that are unfulfilled: those thoughts that keep you awake at night, the journal of ideas in a notebook or on your cell phone, the sticky notes on your bathroom mirror, or just a knowing that there is more for you to become and do but you’re unsure of what "that" is.
perhaps it's time to look at who or what is at the wheel steering the ship of your life.
are you investing MORE TIME MORE FOCUS MORE ENERGY MORE EFFORT into other things and people than yourself?
do you put yourself on the backburner and everyone and everything else on front street?
share where you can. yes. give when you can. yes. contribute when there is capacity. yes. we do not exist solely for ourselves but are a part of universal fabric in which your, my, and our very existence—our gifts, skills, and talents are to be shared to make this world a better place and to inspire and empower others to do the same.
there is a difference between doing and being from a place of CONTENTMENT than from place of self-sacrifice, people-pleasing, seeking external validation, or self-imposed obligation.
this message is a reminder to take back the wheel of your life if you have consciously or subconsciously given it to someone or something else to steer.
this could have been done through
…distractions
...excuses
...unhealthy behaviors
…bending yourself to the expectations of others
…absorbing into yourself others’ projections of their own fear, self-doubt, insecurities
…molding yourself into “societal” ideals, programming that in some sense who you are is not good enough and there is a “standard” of what others define as “success” to live up to
...resting in the comfortability of the "good or great" with things and people without having tapped into and cultivated the greatness in you to share with the world
...self-limiting beliefs "I'm not good enough" "I'm not worthy of more" "I am unseen and unheard", and a multitude of other thought programs embedded in your subconscious mind.
being at the wheel and steering the ship of your life is...SELF-LOVE. knowing your inherent worth and value irrespective and independent of people, stations in life, and material things.
steering the ship of your life is also
...taking responsibility for when you didn't choose yourself AND forgiving yourself. DO NOT beat yourself up. you just forgot who and what you are! now you know better to do the best.
...choosing yourself. what is aligned and best for you according to your values, interests, and passions
...intentionally setting aside time to nurture and cultivate your goals, dreams, and passions
...celebrating you and your wins
…living authentically and being unapologetic about it. at the end of each day nobody is living your life but you. embrace all of who you are, light and shadow. always seek to operate at your core soul frequency, you will find that those who also live from a place of authenticity will see your light, respect it, celebrate it and will not want to dim or put it out.
so, when it comes to dreams, goals, desires-what you want for yourself and your life, are you steering the ship? or are you giving the wheel to someone or something else, letting them steer the ship wherever or however they want?
your answer will determine the direction you should or will continue to go.
